MANILA (UPDATE) – The operator of Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 on Wednesday said it is open to constructing a temporary station that will link two of the capital’s train lines.
The House committee on transportation, chaired by Catanduanes Rep. Cesar Sarmiento, proposed the building of a temporary station that is seen to benefit around 30,000 commuters.
“A temporary LRT station that can receive more train riders, can be constructed in a short time, and best of all, at no cost to the government,” the House panel said on a Facebook post.
Sarmiento and other members of the committee will inspect on February 15 the location in front of SM North EDSA to further study the possibility of the proposed temporary station.
The House of Representatives is investigating the alleged overprice of the P2.8-billion common station that will link LRT-1 with the Metro Rail Transit Line 3.
