MANILA – (UPDATE) The second highest alert was raised in Luzon on Wednesday due to thin power reserves, the Department of Energy said.

The “yellow alert,” which means reserves have dipped below the required level, was in effect over the country’s most populous island from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the DOE said.

The DOE said at least two power plants, San Gabriel and Kalayaan Unit 2, were not working and Malaya Unit 2 was called in to augment supply.

There were no immediate warnings of power outages.
