More int’l flights seen to fly out of Clark

MANILA – More international airlines are planning to use Clark airport amid efforts to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Clark International Airport Corp. president Alexander Cauguiran said Wednesday.

The airport is rapidly expanding, recording nearly a million passengers last year with over 6,200 flights, Cauguiran said.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific have started expanding operations at the Clark airport, which Cauguiran sees as the “airport for the north.”

PAL completed its first international flight in Clark last month.

President Rodrigo Duterte wants the new terminal building in Clark to be completed before his term ends in 2022, Cauguiran added. — Report from Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News
