MANILA, Philippines – The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) believes American companies will not abandon great opportunities present in the Philippines because of US president Donald Trump.
Trump made a call to American companies to bring manufacturing back to the US.
Such pronouncements, along with his “America first”, “buy American, and hire American” proclamations, have caused uncertainty among US firms operating in the Philippines.
“I don’t think the US business interest will hurt themselves. The investment here is just too much to forego. They have been here for many years and the capital invested here is just too much to make it fade,” MAP chairman of national issues committee Perry Pe said.
