50 infrastructure projects worth P472-B in the works: PPP Center

MANILA – The Public-Private Partnership Center has 50 projects worth over P470 billion planned for the next few years, the head of the infrastructure agency said Thursday.

The projects include five regional airports and the construction of the North Luzon Expressway and South Luzon Expressway connector road, which are in their pre-construction stages, said PPP Center executive director Ferdinand Pecson.

The center aims to fasttrack the bidding of 9 other projects, including airports in Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Panglao.

Other projects in the pipeline include the New Nayong Pilipino at Entertainment City, Phase 2 of the Road Transport Information Technology Infrastructure, and the Regional Prison Facilities in Nueva Ecija.

“We are very optimistic that more local and international players will participate in these projects,” said Pecson.

The agency also wants to revamp its policies to attract more investors, said Pecson.

“Aside from working on getting the PPP pipeline moving, the center is actively pursuing various policy initiatives that will create a more attractive PPP environment for investors and we are streamlining our processes to make PPP procurement more nimble and responsive,” he said.
