Megawide-led group targets Q1 groundbreaking for ITS
MANILA, Philippines – MWM Terminals, the consortium of Megawide Construction Corp. and WM Property Management Inc., expects to break ground on the P2.5-billion Integrated Transport System (ITS) – Southwest public-private partnership (PPP) project within the first quarter.
Megawide said the consortium plans the groundbreaking for the project within this quarter.Last October, the Department of Transportation issued the notice to proceed for the project.
“Preliminary construction work has already begun. We are just refining terminal design with LRMC (Light Rail Manila Corp.) in terms of our connection to LRT (Light Rail Transit) 1,” Megawide said.
The ITS-Southwest PPP project was awarded to MWM Terminals in 2015.
It involves the design, construction and financing of an ITS terminal within a site area of 4.59 hectares near the Manila-Cavite Expressway.
The facility will have passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, and park-ride facilities.
Apart from building and handling the operations and management of the facility, the consortium can also undertake commercial development and collect revenues generated from the same.
Through the project, passengers coming from Cavite will be connected to other transport systems such as the future LRT Line 1 South Extension, city bus, taxi, and other public utility vehicles serving inner Metro Manila.
The project is expected to be completed by 2018.
